Birth Control - Combined Pill

Birth Control - Combined Pill

Combined pill - a combination of estrogen and progesterone that suppresses ovulation. A prescription is necessary to get the pill and the pill must be taken daily at around the same time for 3 weeks and then 1 week off. If taken correctly the pill is 98% effective in preventing pregnancy but is not effective in preventing STD's.

The pill can reduce the amount of menstrual bleeding as well as making a woman's cycle more regular. Possible side effects of the pill include headaches, weight gain, nausea, and spotting but will vary between women and not everyone will experience side effects. Medications such as antibiotics may interfere with the pill's effectiveness.
