Birth Control - Implant
Implant - with the use of a needle, 6 small plastic implants are inserted into the arm where they release hormones for 5 years. The hormones prevent the ovaries form releasing eggs. The implants can be removed before the 5 years are up but there will be a fee for extraction and removal may be diffuclt. Both implantation and removal are done by a doctor as the implant is by prescription only.
Since 2002 Norplant is no longer distributing their implant and women who have the implant should contact their physician regarding future contraceptive methods.
